I was born in Mexico City in 1972, I started studying Visual arts at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico) when I was 19 Years old, specializing in painting techniques, drawing and woodprinting. I had several exhibits in Mexico City and Estado de Mexico. I migrated to the USA around 20 years ago and since then have lived in Seattle area. My art work has been included in several group exhibits and solo exhibits in the US and in Mexico. I have been a volunteer at “Casa de Artes”, “Taller Mexicano Para La Cultura Y Las Artes” organizing “Day of the Dead” and other organizations.
My work has focused on Mural Art and I have painted more than 20 Murals in Seattle Area including two Murals at Washington Middle School. A la mujer
This piece of art "A la mujer" represents an ode to the Latin women, represented with national flowers from some of the Latin American countries. Here, we find the dalia, a Mexican national flower; the white butterfly, a Cuban national flower; the ceibo that is the national flower from Argentina, etc . Although the woman is represented by flowers, their strength and humanity are represented in their hands by showing their osseous anatomy, which for me, show strength and vulnerability at the same time. This is my little tribute to the women.

Stephanie MoralesI am a homegrown, Seattle born and based artist. Creating art from a young age, I recently returned to my passion through acrylic and pencil mediums nearly two years ago. Both my travels throughout the US and Europe influence my work, much of which is focused on femininity, thought, self reflection, and beauty. My multicultural background, education in social justice, and varied life experiences contribute greatly to subject of my personal work. My portrait work, both personal and celebrity icon, and a study in line and figure have also recently been fairly popular. One artist I admire and relate to is Frida Khalo. Her work is vulnerable, narrative and highly reflective and I have found my work on some occasions unintentionally modeled after hers.

It was important that both Indigenous and Afro-Latina women be represented as often they are left out of the conversation and imagery. As the world is becoming more aware of just how diverse the Latin community is we are starting to celebrate how beautiful the rainbow of cultures, histories, and ethnicity that are part of who we are.
Across many cultures Sunflowers represent adoration, loyalty and longevity. Additionally in some cultures their strong stock represents a bond between people and their bright upward facing flower represent happiness, positivity and forward thinking. This symbolism represents the ideals we hold and hope to manifest under this partnership. |
